Programmable Services for Mobile       Patient Care

The goal of this work is to demonstrate a novel service architecture for real-time efficient and mobile patient monitoring. The current work has involved development of smart programmable clinical sensor devices (for measuring SpO2, ECG, etc.) connected to a cellular wide-area network, and serviced by remote back-end servers. Doctors and authorized medical staff can securely access web-based patient data visually, and patients' medical history through separate account servers. A part of the web-based application and database has been built, and proof-of-concept low cost medical sensors using off-the-shelf sensor motes and components are under construction. The MobiCare prototype, once developed, will serve as an important model for the next-generation programmable, mobile healthcare services.
